As we age, our skin gradually loses its firmness, hydration, and elasticity due to a natural decline in collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans.

These changes often lead to fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone. Fortunately, skin boosters provide an effective way to rejuvenate the skin and restore its youthful radiance!

What Are Skin Boosters?

Skin boosters are injectable treatments designed to deeply hydrate and improve the skin’s texture from within. Unlike traditional dermal fillers that add volume, skin boosters focus on enhancing skin quality by stimulating hydration, supporting skin cell regeneration, and boosting elasticity.

How Do Skin Boosters Work?

As the skin ages, its ability to repair itself diminishes, leading to pigmentation concerns, inflammation, and increased sensitivity. Skin boosters help by:

  • Strengthening the skin’s natural repair functions

  • Addressing pigmentation and uneven skin tone

  • Reducing redness and inflammation

  • Encouraging collagen production for firmer, more youthful skin

Popular Types of Skin Boosters

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Skin Boosters e.g. Profhilo

Hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally present in the skin, plays a crucial role in:

  • Retaining moisture to keep the skin hydrated and plump

  • Stimulating collagen production to improve skin elasticity

Typically, 2-3 treatment sessions are recommended, with results lasting around 6-9 months.

Polynucleotides

Derived from purified DNA fragments (often sourced from salmon or trout), polynucleotides have gained popularity due to their regenerative properties.

Polynucleotides are tiny molecules derived from nucleic acids. Nucleic acids can be likened to an instruction manual for all living things. A well-known type of nucleic acid is DNA. Nucleic acids play a crucial role in our body’s cellular function. We use polynucleotides in aesthetic medicine to regenerate tissue and stimulate the production of key components found in your skin, including collagen.

It can be specifically placed to target your trouble spots, for example, under eyes.

Indications that Polynucleotides may be right for you:

  • You are noticing signs of ageing around your eyes.

  • You’re noticing skin ageing on your face, this can include your forehead.

  • You are seeing skin ageing on your neck.

  • You would like to strengthen your skin and improve its quality.

Typically, 2-3 treatment sessions are recommended, with results lasting around 6-9 months.

SuneKos

Winner of the Safety in Beauty Innovation and Pioneering award 2019, SuneKos is a non-surgical treatment comprising of a unique combination of hyaluronic acid and amino acids which triggers skin regeneration.

Whilst deeply hydrating and plumping the skin, clinical trials have shown that the Hyaluronic Acid (HA) can activate bio-revitalisation from within your skin which results in plumper, smoother, firmer, more youthful-looking skin.

SuneKos combines this HA with a special combination of amino acids which directly stimulates the Extra Cellular Matrix (ECM) fibroblasts which in turn rebuilds the living layer of your skin, called the dermis.

There are two types of SuneKos; SuneKos 200 and SuneKos 1200.

SuneKos 200 is used to treat around the eyes, face, neck, chest and hands and is perfect for earlier signs of ageing.

SuneKos 1200 is used in conjunction with SuneKos 200 if your skin needs extra structural support to improve sagging skin or if you have deeper, more advanced wrinkles.

Your specific requirements will be assessed and discussed with you prior to the treatment.

Three sessions; each session is 10-14 days apart. Results can be seen after one session but full effect is seen after three sessions.

Indications that SuneKos may be right for you:

  • You are noticing lines and wrinkles.

  • You have skin crepiness.

  • You have skin that is lacking in elasticity.

  • Your skin is thin and lacks volume and plumpness.

  • You have dehydrated, sun damaged skin.

  • You would like to prevent early signs of skin ageing.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

This is a safe and natural treatment that utilizes your body’s own growth factors to support healing and skin rejuvenation. It helps maintain healthy, youthful, and smooth skin while addressing visible signs of aging, including fine lines, wrinkles, certain scars, dull skin, stretch marks, and overall skin quality concerns.

PRP has antibacterial properties and anti-inflammatory benefits, making adverse reactions rare.

PRP can be used as a standalone skin-enhancing procedure or combined other treatments depending on the result you aim to achieve.

A sample of your blood is taken and processed in a medical device called a Centrifuge to isolate the platelets found within you blood. When reintroduced to your skin, either by a number of tiny injections, your platelets release growth factors in the treated skin; growth factors are molecules which tell the skin to start the natural regeneration process.

Indications that PRP may be right for you:

  • You would like to improve the thickness and texture of your skin.

  • You would like to improve the tone and elasticity of your skin.

  • You would like to improve a dull skin tone.

  • You would like to improve the appearance of scarring.

  • You would like to improve the appearance of stretch marks.

  • You would like to improve the brightness under your eyes.

  • You would like to soften some signs of ageing, such as wrinkles.

Things to Consider Before Treatment

While skin boosters offer many advantages, it’s important to keep a few key factors in mind:

Consistency is Key: A full course of treatment (usually 2-3 sessions) is necessary for optimal results, with maintenance sessions recommended every 6-9 months.

Professional Expertise Matters: Always seek treatment from a certified professional. At AmuShu Aesthetics we will ensure to consult you prior to treatment and helping you make an informed decision to achieve healthy, glowing skin.
